Вот, что есть у меня по данной теме....
Прямо скажу немного, но для затравки пойдёт.

Altair sector was first colonized by an utopia group in the 24th century. Distance-wise, Altair is, by far, the farthest away colonized sector from boundaries of the Confederation at the time. Adding to the physical distances, the tramlines leading from Confederation proper to the Altair sector is also fraught with navigational hazards (nebulae, quasar, and black-holes). Thus, despite its early colonization, Altair was isolated from the Confederation until the advent of new technologies that overcame the various hazards.

During its isolation, however, the Altarian colonists became the first to develop their own industries instead of relying on those Sol and the inner colonies. The rapid expansion that came with creating their own industry, coupled with the mineral and agricultural wealth of the systems in the Altair sector, transformed the Altarians from the arch-typical farming colonists of the Confederation to something far different.

The Altarians developed a philosophy that is a blend of the German focus on efficiency, the British emphasis on good organization and Russian non-standart approach to the problems. The Altairns realized that they are a new and different people, that opportunities surrounds them, and all one has to do to succeed in life is work with diligence, intelligence, and patience while waiting for Fortuna to favor them.

Indeed, when the boundaries of the Confederation finally came close to the Altarian sectors, there was a heated debate among the Altarians as to whether the Altair should be part of the Confederation at all. The hi-tech and industrialized systems of Altair supports a higher standard of living compare to the farming colonies of the Confederation. The average Altarian is wealthier and better educated than the clod-breaking farmers of the Confederation. Amidst the debate, however, came the first Kilrathi War, and the Altarians threw their full support behind the Confederation. In fact, Altair had been the first "border sector" that threw their support behind the Confederation.

Like the rest of humanity, the Altarians were affected by the first Kilrathi war. Although Altair did border Kilrathi sectors, the only possible tramline was through three small systems that came to be known as Colin's Corridor. Once the Colin's Corridor was fortified the Altair sector is basically secure. However, many Altarian men and women left their secure home sector and joined the Confederation to fight the Kilrathi. These men and women brought back to Altair a sense of the price one must pay for freedom and created an enormous sense of civic duty among the Altarians.

Civic duty became a part of the Altarian philosophy. It has been espoused by certain historians that not since the ancient Roman Republic or the Soviet Union and USA right after World War II has there been such a strong sense of civic duty among a people. While such claims may well be exaggerated, it is certainly true that the Altarians took their civic duty seriously. During the Kilrathi war, one out of four Altarians were involved in the Confederation war effort. Altarians were found in everywhere from front-line pilot squadrons, to InSys patrols, and charity missions that ranges from re-building homes, setting up factories, creating hospitals, and generally repairing the damages war has caused.

At the same time, the damage to industries in Sol as well as the inner colonies caused the Confederation to rely more and more on the industrial capabilities in the Altair sector and caused an enormous wartime boom for the sector.

Despite their willingness to help the Confederation and fulfill their obligation as part of humanity in the war against the Kilrathi, however, the Altarians never did consider themselves a part of the Confederation. In the decades of the war, however, government naturally became more centralized and fell into the hands of the Confederation central administration in Sol. Thus, by the time the Kilrathi war came to an end, the Confederation Assembly in Sol tend to think of Altair as little more than another Confederation sector (albeit the heart of the Confederation's industries and economy).

It was this false perception, coupled with corruption, ignorance, and the appointment of an incompetent bootlicking sector governor (Gov. Devika Subramanian) that led to the Altarian secession.

Many colonies have been heavily damaged in the war, and naturally a large amount of credits would be needed to finance reconstruction. Rashly, Gov. Devika Subramanian decided to raise taxes on the Altarians ("they're rich, anyway") and place all the industries under direct Confederation control. Almost overnight, the entire sector went on strike. Stubborn and convinced of her own righteousness, the governor refuse to negotiate, and eventually ordered military units to break up the strikes and forced the Altarians back to work.

This action caused the Altarians to riot and eventually Gov. Devika Subramanian was forced to flee the sector capital at Covenant. Infuriated, panicking, and trembling at the prospect of losing her career, Gov. Devika Subramanian ordered the sector capital of Covenant be bombed. The order was carried out and millions of Altarians perished. The bombardment of Covenant shocked all Altarians, and soon Altair seceded from the Confederation. Gov. Devika Subramanian was captured and sentenced to death for her crimes.

The crisis continued to escalated until the Secession War was underway. Both the Confederation and the Kilrathi attempted to take the Altair sector in turn. Both the Confederation and the Kilrathi thought that the Altarians were wealthy and soft, lacking the will to fight. Both were wrong.

During the Kilrathi war, the Altarians often found the Confederation military cumbersome and inefficient. Retired Altarian soldiers therefore, had already set up the Altarian Kriegsacademy (war academy), studying everything from logistics to fleet operations, to planet-side ground assault tactics. The Kriegsacademy was to prove invaluable in providing the Altarians with a highly-trained officer corp when good officers were desperately needed in the Secession War. Furthermore, given the number of Altarians involved in the Kilrathi war, there was no lack of skilled soldiers.

First the Confederation assault was smashed in the Battle of Neudresden, then the Kilrathi incursion was first halted and then repulsed in the three battles of the Colin's Corridor. Meanwhile, the Altarians built their strength rapidly, by 2668, they went on the offensive.

Led by the highly capable Lenida DeLuge, the Altarians launched an operation code-named "Cerulean" against the Kilrathi. In a bold attack that completely surprised the Kilrathi, the Altarians swept through the Jih'tahn sector and smashed two Kilrathi battlegroups. The annexation of the Jih'tahn sector and the fortification of its frontiers effectively puts the Kilrathi threat out of the picture. DeLuge then turned his attention to the Confederation.

In operation "Magenta," the Altarians managed to penetrate deep into Confederation rear and cut off its front-line fleets. The front-line fleets eventually found themselves critically short of supplies and was lured into a trap that became known as the Smolensk Ambush. With their fleets destroyed and the Altarian raiders operating deep in their rear, the Confederation had no choice but to sue for peace, and the Truce of Dayan was signed, ending the Secession War and securing the independence of Altair.
