I'm just wondering if the Devs are actually going to use the massive amounts of unused content that's still locked up in SWG's database.
I'm not talking about the named crystals, unused professions, and so on... I'm talking about an entire PLANET unused.
Since the end of Beta, I knew there was a planet called Tanaab in the SWG database. There use to be a /ui command you could do that would list the available planets, and Tanaab would be right there with Dantooine and Dathomir.
Now when I say there is an entire planet not being used in the game, I'm not talking about unused textures. I'm talking about an entire planet, landscape, flora, and topography all unused. A planet the size of the other non-content planets.
Now, if I remember correctly, there were two more planets originally going to be in the game. They were Umbra and Tanaab. Umbra was ditched near the end of Alpha for some reason, and the Devs ditched Tanaab near the end of the Beta, stating the Tanaab was "too easily exploitable by players."
I knew that the planet was unfished, but I never really knew how far they got into the making of Tanaab. It turns out they had the landscape fully modeled (without cities), complete texture, and nearly complete flora.
And to show you guys what I mean, here's a video of Tanaab (http://www.holoshard.net/downloads/Tanaab.wmv).
(Note To Mods: If the video breaks a rule, please do not delete the entire post, just remove the link to the video if you must)
Now to me, that looks like an entire functioning planet, without cities or wildlife. I mean, imagine what they could do with the planet. They could create HUGE amounts of quests for the planet, and have it an elite habitable planet such as Dantooine. Have in a content-driven planet, but on a bigger scale than Kashyyyk and Mustafar.
The Devs are saying they aren't going to be creating any new planets and are going to be focusing entirely on content and fixing bugs. Well, it looks as if they have an entire 15 square kilometer planet they could outfit into a massive player-livable content driven planet if they were so enclined.
All the hard work has been done, they just need to add cities, wildlife, and quests. No need to buy a new expansion, since the planet is already loaded in the SWG database, and the files are already in your client.
UPDATE:
Here's a link to Information about Tanaab (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Tanaab).
The planet had an old Droid Factory there from the Clone Wars era. Also, a huge pirate-factioned battle took place on and above Tanaab around SWG's timeline. You've got two canon-official quests you could use: a droid factory area close to what's on Mustafar, and a battle between Lando Calrissian and his allies, against Pirate raiders.
