Flyers from St.Petersburg???

Hello everybody,
I'm sorry I am writing this in english, but my russian is very basic.
I am Riccardo, 29 years old, and live in Rome, Italy.
I've an avid flying simmer since IL-2 sturmovik days...
I will live in St.Petersburg from october to december for a period of study for my doctorate. I will also attend russian language lessons while there, hoping to
be able to learn as much as I can about your fascinating language.

I was wondering: is any of you from St.Petersburg?
Since I will live there, but since I really don't know anyone from there, I would like to know someone from your city before going there.
Also, it would be cool if you organize sometimes some events, and I could participate in joining you.
