Captive crew overthrow Somali pirates

Two pirates were killed and several more injured yesterday after the crew of a North Korean-registered cargoship seized off the coast of Somalia overpowered their assailants and regained control of the vessel.
Details of what occurred remained sketchy as Lloyd's List went to press, but according to the International Maritime Bureau, the crew of 1980-built 9,689 dwt Dai Hong Dan managed to re-establish control over the engine room, allowing the vessel to return to international waters, where it was met by coalition naval forces. The ship involved in the incident appears to be a vessel reported taken captive by Somali pirates on either Monday or the early hours of Tuesday. The hijack was the second in recent days.
