The R-77 is in service and no one knows how many were delivered in 2001 and 2002.Considering that more than 100 deliveries have been listed even before the commissioning of the no.24 and no.3 squadrons,it's not unsafe to assume greater deliveries.I also have certainly not come across any sort of negative feedback regarding the missile.
China isn't, on the other hand. Given various reports, I tagged about 100 to 400 R-77s delivered, with at least 100 with surety. This is paltry compared to 1,800 R-27s and 3,600 R-73s they bought (and possibly over 2000 Kh-29Ts). The relatively paltry numbers of R-77s in the IAF and PLAAF seems to indicate both forces may be waiting for better stuff

Someone inquired about SIPRI notes on Indian R-77s,

mentions 750 rounds ordered in the year 2000.This is certainly not a small number
