The victim, identified as Koronov Viktor Sapanov, 55, is the third of the Russian team monitoring the jet fighters ordered by the Indonesian government to have died in Makassar.
Hasanuddin Airbase commander First Marshal Agus Supriatna reported Monday that the two Russians who died earlier had been identified as Alexander and Voronim. Alexander was found dead under his bed in his room, while Voronim was reported to have suffered a heart attack.
Chief of South Sulawesi Police Insp. Gen. Jhony Waenal Usman explained Tuesday that the three Russians had had similar symptoms – headaches, vomiting, foaming at the mouth and respiratory problems.
The police have not yet received information as to the cause of death of the three Russians, who had been stationed in Makassar since Sept. 5, 2010, to monitor six Sukhoi jet fighters that arrived at the Makassar Sultan Hassanudin Air Force base on Sept. 10.
