По этому вопросу есть инетесные находки:Или это очередной плевок госдепа в сторону церкви?
Intrusions into Russian matters of State by the Russian Orthodox Church are real, rampant, and growing. The best known example of the emerging alliance between the Church and the Government are the regular "blessings” and sprinkling of holy water on nuclear missiles during military ceremonies.
Less well known but no less troubling is the visible presence of the ROC inside important institutions of law in Moscow. Amazingly, in downtown Moscow, both the City Court House and the Prosecutor General's Office maintain Orthodox chapels on the premises. Former KGB agent and “committed Christian” Vladimir Putin, himself equated the ROC, to its nuclear shield, both, he said, are "components that strengthen the Russian state”.
These religious encroachments in matters of state are concerning to us but most shocking are Hillary Clinton's very own words pertaining to Putin's character and his faith. On the campaign trail and speaking of President Bush and Putin she said "This is the president (W) that looked in the soul of Putin, and I could have told him, he was a KGB agent. By definition he doesn't have a soul. I mean, this is a waste of time, right? This is nonsense, but this is the world we're living in right now."
Is it “nonsense”? Is it “a waste of time” She, I am afraid, has it completely backwards. Vladimir Putin is a deeply religious man from all accounts. On Larry King live Vladimir Putin spoke of a Cross he wears that he almost lost in a fire: “I cherish that cross very much, it was my mother's cross I was surprised completely when one of the workers, just muddling through those ashes of the remnants, found that cross intact. And the house fell, that was a surprise, a revelation, and therefore I always now keep it with me”
Religion matters very much to Vladimir Putin and to President Dimitry Medvedev who risked his legal and political career at the age of twenty three with his baptism into the ROC and we think it is important for the State Department to clarify its position on the rising influence of religion in Russia .
We would like to ask Mrs. Clinton if she believes Mr. Putin has “No Soul” and if he does is he getting a little carried away.
