you will need the media vp files, 'cause it contains the latest improvements to the engine, like new engine trails, new planets, 32 bit support, etc. Note, however, that you can't see the moview from the game now, the MVE support has been removed.

They do have all movies in avi format somewhere, look in the forums for them.
