"IJNAF Carrier Landing Procedures"

I know that the Japanese used landing lights to guide plane sonto the carrier deck. But that's all. Anyone got good details of the techniques used? Eg, glide angle, colour of lights, where the lights were positioned, effects of bad weather, number of wires for hook catch, case barrier operation etc.
Many thanks.

2. "RE: IJNAF Carrier Landing Procedures"
The IJN carriers were fitted with a series of red and green lights,
THe Carriers at this site have the lights on them and they work quite well in CFS2..

I believe the idea was to line up the two rows of red and green lights until you saw 2 red and 2 green in a single line on each side of the carrier, that way you knew you were centered on the flight deck and on the proper glide path. See pic.

Pips,
I asked the same question recently; thanks to help from people here I picked up:
Sunburst: The Rise of Japanese Naval Air Power 1909-1941
Author: Mark R. Peattie
Publisher: Naval Institute Press
Year: 2001
ISBN: 1-55750-432-6
I ordered it thru Barnes and Noble (also avaiable from Amazon.com) so I could use my Reader's advantage card.
Chapter 3, Flight Decks (page's 52 - 76) has all the info you need with great diagrams of carrrier deck operations, landing systems, etc. This is the best book (so far) I've read regarding IJN carrier methods and techniques.

Joe Kelly
