In April 1940, RAF 263Sqn was sent to Norway as part of the BEF. It was flying out of
the frozen waters of Lake Lesjaskog, as considered better than any regular airfield.

The Luftwaffe found them the following day after arrival and launch a series of attacks
that soon jeopardized the existence of the Squadron itself.
