Greetings Friends of the Sturmovik!
I wanted to clear up a few things from yesterday's chat.
Some folks are asking about how Forgotten Battles will be configured for both the North American and European markets.
Forgotten Battles will be an add on product that will install a combined version of IL-2 (v1.3) which will include all the content from the original release and all of the previous patches and upgrades AND the new content for Forgotten Battles. You must have IL-2 installed properly on your computer for the Forgotten Battles product to install.
After the first of the year 2003, we will be releasing a special "Sim of the Year" version of IL-2 that will include the complete IL-2 product (Original IL-2, all patches & upgrades, AND Forgotten Battles). This product is intended for people who do not already own IL-2 Sturmovik.
While a hint was dropped during the chat that indicates that a North Africa sequel product is next, it is not yet official. North Africa is a logical choice and we have begun formal discussions with Oleg & 1C about the sequel, but no formal agreement has been reached and no official feature list exists. There is already much speculation going on about the sequel and that's understandable. We just want everyone to know that we have not made any final decisions and we (Ubi & 1C) are concentrating our attention and efforts on the work being done on Forgotten Battles.
The chat was very good, but we understand that there is room to improve. We are already working on how to conduct a better chat next time. We appreciate your feedback and your participation.
There has been some concern regarding the use of cheat programs by some online multiplayer users. A thread that someone posted about the matter was deleted when it should have just been edited. There is no conspiracy to hide anything or ignore the situation. Oleg is aware of the situation and he and his team are looking into the matter. In fact, Oleg was aware of this particular cheat and others before the matter was brought up here on the forum.
Thanks for your continued enthusiasm and support.
Cheers,
Carl
