Sixth Army achieved a brilliant victory after the 16th and 24th Panzer Divisions managed to link together and reach the bridge at Kalach. General Lopatin, the commander of the 62nd Soviet Army, lost (1,000) armored fighting vehicles while (57,000) of his troops were captured in the failed Red Army counter-offensive. In response to this Hitler has ordered the capture of the city of Stalingrad by the 25th of August. We have yet to gain a foothold across the Don River and the man wants a major city that stretches (30km) in length in (11) days...absurd.
At present General Paulus' troops are attempting to wrestle the bridge at Kalach from the 20th Motorized Brigade. The latter unit is being reinforced by an armored column traveling north of Pyatimorskiy. 1./JG 3 will send a rotte escort to accompany the Hs-129B-2's of Hauptmann Neubert's II./Schlachtgeschwader 1.
"Maus" and Feldwebel Werner Teegler will "bomb-up" with (1x250kg) SC bombs and attempt to eliminate Soviet armor should they fail to encounter Red Army aircraft. I know everyone's a little "rusty" following the lack of flight time we've had due to the fuel shortage so be cautious.
